Pageland Watermelon Festival
 Festival
Donates Money to Centennial Celebration
The
Town of Pageland is 100 years old, and the Pageland Garden Club wanted to
mark the special occasion by erecting a four-sided clock in the downtown
business district. Just in time for the Centennial Celebration
kick-off, the clock was installed at the corner of Maple and McGregor
streets. The Garden Club worked diligently to raise funds for the
clock through private donations and from their annual Taste of Pageland
event. Their fundraising campaign concluded when the Pageland
Watermelon Festival contributed the final third of the cost of the new
clock.
As a non profit event, the festival helps to fund various projects
throughout the year for the betterment of Pageland. Past projects
have included scholarships for local high school seniors, a fountain in
the town green space, and decorative banners with brackets for the new
downtown revitalization project. The festival has also given
donations to local athletic programs, charities, and non-profit
organizations.
